The Dresden University Cancer Center (UCC) is one of eleven "top oncological centers" of the Deutsche Krebshilfe e.V. in Germany. The UCC obtained this distinction as one of the first top centers in Germany, in 2007, after an international assessment.

The Dresden University Cancer Center was founded in 2003, jointly by the University Hospital and the Carl Gustav Carus Medical Faculty, as the Comprehensive Cancer Center for extensive interdisciplinary care of cancer patients, cancer research and teaching. The UCC has been certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 since 2004.

Highly specialized expert doctors work together in every oncological discipline in the Dresden University Cancer Center, in order to provide the best possible, individually tailored, multi-disciplinary treatment
for cancer patients. Many specialists are not only experienced doctors, but are also active as university lecturers and in cancer research.
In this way, it is guaranteed that the most up-to-date knowledge is considered at every step, from diagnosis to treatment.

Inter-disciplinary outpatients and the tumor boards represent important platforms for patient care in the UCC. Inter-disciplinary outpatients offers a central place to go for patients before treatment, between treatment stages and during follow-up, and, as a control center, coordinates diagnosis and treatment, as well as the transitions between care from the referring G.P's and hospitalized treatment in the different departments of the University Hospital.
Individually recommended treatment is developed in the interdisciplinary tumor board of the UCC.
