About us

The University Women’s Hospital located on the Campus Virchow Medical Center is ranked among the leading institutes in the field of diagnostics, treatment and after-care of benign and malignant female disorders.

We always aim for holistic care. Our focus areas are young girls with congenital malformations of the vagina, all disorders concerning adolescent female, miscarriages, benign myoma and benign ovarian and uterine tumors. Benign tumors of the labia as well as malignant tumors of the outer and inner genitals such as ovarian cancer, but also all gynecologic diseases concerning elderly woman.

All modern and classic surgical techniques such as minimally invasive surgery (keyhole surgery), vaginal, combined and open techniques are applied.

In order to treat all diseases on the highest level possible, all core competencies of our university and neighboring specialties will be included at the earliest time possible. The Department offers all modern and classic diagnostics, treatment and after-care modalities, both for outpatient as well as inpatient treatment.

Ward 35 has 36 beds (6 modern equipped single bedrooms and 15 double bedrooms). Primarily, we treat patients with gynecologic cancers (ovaries, breast, uterus). Both invasive treatment and chemotherapy are performed here. Ward 35 services recently operated or sick patients who need intensive monitoring and care. They are treated according to modern medical principles in order to ensure a fast recovery after surgery. Therapeutic treatment is in compliance with the newest scientific findings. We are also part of several internationally renowned clinical studies.

A friendly team caters to the health of all our patients. General treatment promises not only nursing and medical care but also physical therapy, nutrition counseling and therapy, psychosocial care and support.

Ward 36 has 24 beds (4 single bedrooms and 10 double bedrooms). Primarily, we treat patients with benign gynecologic diseases such as myoma, ovarian cyst and diseases during the first half of pregnancy (habitual miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy). Aside of endoscopic interventions (so-called laparoscopy or minimally invasive surgery), the ward’s emphasis is caring for patients after laser therapy for treatment of malignant mutations of the outer genitals (labia and vagina). Patients after interventions for urinary incontinence and (partial) hysterectomies (removal of the uterus with or without preservation of the cervix) are also cared for post-surgery.
