Sonography

The ultrasound examination, also called sonography, is a quick and effective medical imaging procedure. It is one of the most common methods of examination because it is largely free of side effects and is also inexpensive.

With the ultrasound, as the examination is usually simply called, different parts of the body and organs can be examined and assessed very easily - on an outpatient basis, directly in the doctor's practice or in a hospital. Because of its easy availability, sonography is also often used for direct control during technically demanding procedures. It is also recommended as a method without side effects for monitoring the course of diseases.

Frequent fields of application are joint sonography, ultrasound examination of the abdominal organs, for example when the liver, kidneys or spleen are involved, echocardiography when the heart is involved - and ultrasound examination of the thyroid gland. Mammary sonography, as a preliminary stage of mammography, is also one of the fields of application. And, of course, there is probably the best known form of ultrasound - in pregnancy.
