About us

The german pediatric heart center Sankt Augustin is highly specialized in the treatment of congenital heart defects from neonates to adulthood.
The rarity and variety of congenital heart defects require collaboration and interdisciplinary exchange of highly skilled specialists in pre-natal medicine and human genetics, pediatric cardiology, cardio-anesthesiology, pediatric intensive care and pediatric cardiac surgery under one roof.
This idea was made possible by the new building of the german pediatric heart center Sankt Augustin (DKHZ), sponsored by generous contributions from parents' organizations and through government funding.

The heart Center has cutting edge medical technology, three operating theaters, a heart catheter laboratory, a large intensive care unit, two general nursing wards and a specialist outpatients clinic.
By virtue of its high quality and a wide range of diagnostic examinations carried out in house, and operations for the treatment of patients with congenital heart defects, for many years, the DKHZ has been among the highest performing in Europe (more than 500 operations per year).
