About us

Prof. Paul Kremer is the Senior Consultant at the Neurosurgery Clinic of the Asklepios Hospital Nord, Heidberg in Hamburg. As a specialist neurosurgeon, Prof. Kremer cares for patients with conditions in or injuries to the brain, the spinal cord, the spinal column, the bony cranium and the peripheral nerves. Microsurgery procedures represent a particular focus of the Department of Neurosurgery in Heidberg. The Department of Neurosurgery in Heidberg is part of the Cranial Centre at the Asklepios Hospital Nord, Heidberg. As a result, in the interests of the optimum patient care, there is close contact with the specialists in neurology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, oral and maxillofacial surgery and neuroradiology.
The team surrounding Prof. Kremer achieves a high level of dependability and precision thanks to the application of advanced techniques at the Department of Neurosurgery in Heidberg. This includes, for example, computer-based neuronavigation for orientation accurate to the millimetre and intraoperative neuromonitoring for functional monitoring of the cranial nerves and the spinal cord during surgery. The intraoperative MRT in the suite adjoining the neurosurgical operating theatre is unique in Germany. The high resolution three-dimensional imaging, even during the procedure, allows an examination as to whether a tumour has been completely removed. Hence, the risk of tumour tissue remaining in situ can be markedly reduced and the patients are spared possible follow-up procedures.
