About us

The Department of Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery together with the Department of Hand, Plastic, Reconstructive and Burn Surgery and the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery represents the core emphasises of the BG Klinik Tuebingen.

The Department of Trauma Surgery is divided into different sections (traumatology and reconstructive surgery, sports traumatology and arthroscopic surgery, endoprosthetics as well as septic surgery) and the emphasises spinal and foot surgery.

The Department of Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery is the training center for trauma surgery of the Eberhard-Karls-University Tuebingen. The department is taking care of the university mission of teaching and research. Furthermore, there is a highly modernized field of teaching and research with a S2 laboratory and interdisciplinary formed research groups. Here, future-oriented diagnostic and treatment prodecures are developed.

The implementation of sections which attend to the different facets of trauma and reconstructive surgery as well as parts of orthopedics accomodates the increasing specialization and refinement of instruments and implants. The head of each section and their team can rely on a special expertise in their specialty area; thus, our patients can benefit from comprehensive counseling and optimal treatment. The
Department of Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery is equipped with 225 beds for the treatment of fresh injuries as well as their sequelae. For all kinds of injuries, there is an emergency room which is open 24/7. Patients with different clinical pictures are thoroughly examined and counseled, for special clinical pictures there are specialized consultation hours available. Nine senior consultants and 31 residents are taking care of patient care of counseling. The BG Klinik Tuebingen and the University Hospital Tuebingen form the supra-regional trauma center of the trauma network South Wuerttemberg.
