The Clinic for Vascular Surgery and Phlebology of the Elisabeth Hospital was established in 1984 as the first independent clinic of its kind in Essen. It has 50 beds, three of which are in the ICU, and two operating rooms. The clinic performs a total of approximately 1,800 operations in vascular surgery each year. All required measures (conservative, surgical, interventional) are undertaken to treat congenital and acquired diseases of the arterial and venous systems. A special focus are interventions on the arteries supplying the brain, therapeutic measures in stenotic or aneurysmatic arterial diseases, as well as peripheral reconstructions.
