About us

Dr. Sabine Keim is the Chief Physician of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Helios Hospital, Munich West. She is a highly-qualified specialist in gynecology who has specialized in gynecological oncology over her professional career and heads, inter alia, the Interdisciplinary Breast Center of the hospital. Dr. Keim’s expertise in this field also flows into her long-standing scientific work in the area of gynecological cancer conditions with various project groups. As the Senior Breast Surgeon, Dr. Keim is Onkozert certified and hence underscores her exceptional specialist knowledge, which she employs with great sensitivity for the treatment of her patients. Breast cancer is the treatment focus of the Interdisciplinary Breast Center. From day one, a well-coordinated team cares for its patients individually and in accordance with the latest scientific insights in cancer medicine. An early diagnosis is clarified and verified by means of precise imaging examination methods. Mammography, ultrasound and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) of the breast are employed for this purpose. Biopsies can also give an indication of the condition of the tissues.

A precise treatment plan is individually created for each patient. Treatment options, depending on the nature of the breast cancer condition, include surgical removal, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and radiotherapy. These are suitably arranged with great experience. One particular feature of the Interdisciplinary Breast Center is a consultation appointment together with the specialist team concerned for patients and their family members. The diagnostic results, the patient's personal clinical history and the treatment plan are discussed in detail in this tumor conference. This close collaboration of all the participants in the individual therapeutic concept is of direct benefit to the patients of the Interdisciplinary Breast Center. Thanks to the Center’s specialization in very early diagnosis and treatment, the majority of breast cancer conditions today can be treated very successfully. Since a cancer condition can be a decisive turning point in a patient's familiar everyday life, holistic care of the patients is also greatly emphasized. Psychological support, nutrition counseling and physical therapy accompany the breast cancer treatment extensively and with heart and mind. In each treatment phase, personal contacts are available within the team under Dr. Sabine Keim.
