About us Dr med. habil. Peter Kuhlencordt

Concentrated competence at the “Fontenay Internistic Practice” in Hamburg: in Asst. Lect. Dr. Peter Kuhlencordt, the practice on the Aussenalster has gained an experienced specialist with an outstanding international reputation.

Asst. Lect. Dr. Peter Kuhlencordt will enhance the team from October 1, 2019. His reputation is exceptional, and so Dr. Kuhlencordt appears regularly in the physicians’ lists of the best specialists in Germany: In the field of angiology, that is, vascular medicine, as well as in so-called Charcot’s syndrome, he is among the top medical practitioners in the metropolis.

The specialist in internal medicine, cardiology and angiology advocates a consistent overall concept. His therapeutic approach includes extensive, comprehensive counseling and meticulous treatment and care. Particularly for his clinical emphases, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of arterial disorders, venous disorders and cardiac disorders, the specialist invariably takes the time for his patients.

The native of Hamburg has pursued his studies and his career to date in the most varied corners of the globe. He studied at the Julius Maximilian University of Wurzburg and also sat in on cardiology studies at the Harvard Medical School in Boston and, in the field of emergency medicine and nephrology, at Rush University in Chicago, and at the Cantonal Hospital in St. Gallen, where he studied neurosurgery.

He also completed parts of his specialist training in the USA, during a three-year “fellowship” at the Massachusetts General Hospital of the Harvard Medical School. There, Dr. Kuhlencordt was able to focus on his scientific emphases, issues concerning arterial constriction due to vascular calcification (atherosclerosis) and on the effects of oxidative stress on the cardiovascular system. He has also intensely studied new oral anticoagulants in the treatment of deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism and cardiac conditions.

Following further training as a specialist in internal medicine, Dr. Kuhlencordt obtained his doctorate in Wurzburg, where he also gained specialist qualification in cardiology. He obtained his next specialist qualification, angiology, in Munich, at the Ludwig Maximilian University, where he ultimately moved.

From 2008 to 2015, Asst. Lect. Dr. Peter Kuhlencordt was the Deputy Head of the Angiology Section and Head of Vascular Research at the Ludwig Maximilian University Hospital in Munich. In 2015, he was appointed as W-2 Professor in Angiology at the Philipp University in Marburg.

In the same year, 2015, Dr. Kuhlencordt returned to the city where he was born and raised, as Chief Physician in Conservative and Interventional Angiology at the Asklepios Hospital in Hamburg-Altona. And now, in October 2019, the “Fontenay Internistic Group Practice” can look forward to an experienced specialist, who is accomplished in a number of specialist fields.
