Professor Dr. med. Dirk J. Beuckelmann, Cardiologist, has worked at the Cardiology Center at Starnberg Hospital since 2013 and, prior to this, was Medical Director and Chief Physician in the Cardiology and General Internal Medicine Department at Schön Hospital at Lake Starnberg. An experienced cardiology team in the Cardiology Center at Starnberg Hospital takes care of all issues relating to the heart. In the field of general cardiology, this involves treatment of arrhythmias, high blood pressure or heart failure. In addition to diagnostic testing, patients are given advice and information on health-promoting lifestyles. Professor Dr. med. Beuckelmann has specialized in prevention and clinical and interventional cardiology, in particular. Therefore, a heart checkup including a risk analysis can be carried out at Starnberg Hospital and the performance and capacity of the heart can be checked. Ergometry (stress ECG), spiroergometry, heart echo, ECG and special laboratory tests are used for this. Only in this way can conditions be avoided in advance or alleviated. For cardiac arrhythmias there is also the option of a long-term ECG over 24–72 hours. More serious heart diseases such as coronary artery occlusions, valvular heart disease, heart failure and complex arrhythmias are also treated with the highest level of medical competence and state-of-the-art clinical equipment, including a Heart Board. Cardiac catheterization examinations are carried out in the hospital’s cardiac catheterization laboratory. If required, patients are treated immediately using dilation (widening) or stent implantation. The heart specialists at Großhadern Hospital can also be consulted for more complex problems in the area of cardiac surgery. Subsequent careful aftercare guarantees patients lasting treatment success. Professor Dr. med. Beuckelmann has many years of experience as a Cardiologist and was awarded the Fraenkel Research Prize of the German Cardiac Society in 2000. He is a member of the German Cardiac Society (DGK), the German Heart Foundation, the Professional Association of German Internists (BDI) and the Association of Bavarian Internists.
