Procedures in the area of the lower extremities for neuro-orthopaedic conditions in childhood to adulthood
Dr Wenz is a specialist in orthopaedics and expert for foot surgery and paediatric orthopaedics. Before he joined the Joint Centre of the ATOS Clinic in Heidelberg in 2013, he worked as a Senior Consultant in Hamburg and as Lead Consultant and Section Head at the Orthopaedic University Clinic in Heidelberg. Since the beginning of the 1990s Dr Wenz has specialized more and more intensively on treating the human foot and foot deformities - a medical niche area, which although handled by many physicians has hardly any specialists who have delved as deeply into feet, their 33 little joints and over 100 ligaments, tendons and capsules as Dr Wenz. Smooth and painless walking requires complex interaction between all these elements. But different congenital and acquired diseases lead to deformities and signs of wear which frequently can only be treated through surgery. The range of Dr Wenz’s services encompasses, for example, the treatment of Hallux valgus and Hallux rigidus, hammer and claw toes, osteoarthritis of the first metatarso-phalangeal joint, the so-called clubfoot, degenerative foot deformities (arthrosis, rheumatoid arthritis) and diabetic foot. Dr Wenz has very extensive expertise in the field of foot surgery and paediatric orthopaedics and is considered internationally to be one of the most experienced specialists in correcting extremely complex foot deformities. Dr Wenz will not reject you even if surgery at other institutions has not been able to provide satisfactory improvements. Plenty of grateful feedback from patients subsequent to their treatment by Dr Wenz has shown that it was worthwhile placing themselves in his hands. Many of these examples can be accessed on his personal website www.wolfram-wenz.de. Dr Wenz has also put his expertise to the test in professional circles: his list of publications extends to hundreds of contributions to journals and books, as well as lectures on Dr Wenz's clinical speciality. In addition, he has also produced contributions to mainstream scientific media such as for Spiegel-TV, FOCUS and 3Sat. In order to actively share experience with colleagues, he uses his membership in key specialist associations incl. the Professional Association of Physicians for Orthopaedics, the German Association for Foot and Ankle Joints and the European Foot and Ankle Society.
