Dr. Philippe Glauser is a specialist surgeon and specializes in minimal invasive cancer surgery. In his time as the Chief Resident for abdominal surgery at the University Hospital in Basel, Dr. Glauser was able to establish laser surgery in the Department, in particular in the field of proctology. Dr. Glauser grounded his medical career in his medical studies in Zurich, which he completed in 2005, and his doctorate in 2009 with a prize-winning paper on cancer of the gallbladder at the University of Basle. As a member of the European Society of Surgical Oncology (esso) and the Swiss Abdominal Surgery Association (SGVC), Dr. Glauser is closely connected, both nationally and internationally, with the science and research in his specialized field. Dr. Glauser can also look back on his long experience in practice during his work as a Chief Resident at the Baselland Cantonal Hospital and the Amper Hospital in Dachau.
In the summer of 2018, Dr. Glauser will assume the post of Chief Physician in the Department of Surgery at the Dornach Hospital and will thereby augment the comprehensive range of services with his areas of focus, proctology and hernia surgery. Dornach Hospital is a member of the Solothurn Hospitals Group (SoH) and provides medical and surgical acute care in the region. The Department of Surgery’s facilities are comprehensive and wide-ranging. The close collaboration of all the consulting physicians and specialists, as well as an Emergency Room benefit both in-patients and out-patients. For the patients of Dr. Glauser and his Surgery Department team, this means highly competent, state-of-the-art medical care with advanced surgical techniques. Conditions of the abdominal organs, the esophagus, stomach, together with the pancreas, liver and gallbladder, are treated. Diseases and tumors, carcinomata or polyps of the sections of the intestines, such as the small intestine, the large intestine and the rectum, are also part of the treatment spectrum. The abdominal surgeon Dr. Glauser is a renowned specialist in rectal and cancer conditions and compiles individual, surgical therapeutic concepts in collaboration with his patients. The surgical treatment of a hernia, as ruptured tissues are called, also falls within Dr. Glauser’s specialist range of medical services. Surgery to the abdominal organs can constitute a stressful situation for the patient, particularly if this concerns a tumor or a carcinoma. Dr. Glauser's specialist competence and experience in abdominal surgery contributes toward placing the patient as an individual at the center of the treatment.
