Gynecology

Gynecology is concerned with the female reproductive organs, the menstrual cycle and, to some extent, the female urinary tract. This medical speciality focuses on the functionality, disorders and all diseases. It is therefore concerned with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of gender-specific health disorders in women - including aftercare. This includes conservative as well as surgical treatments: for example reconstructive surgery, gynecological oncology and endocrinology.

Gynecology also includes everything to do with pregnancy and birth: from reproductive medicine, pregnancy care and obstetrics to prenatal and perinatal medicine.

Many different diseases are treated in gynecological departments or clinics. Whether menstrual disorders, uterine polyps, pelvic floor prolapse, complaints associated with menopause, endometriosis or adhesions in the genital area - gynecologists are familiar with the entire spectrum. This also includes urinary tract diseases such as incontinence or cystitis. By the way, gynecology is also responsible for sterilisation.
