Prof. Dr. med. Karl Sterzik has worked in the area of reproductive medicine since 1982. Prof. Sterzik is the pioneer of in-vitro fertilization in Baden-Württemberg, by reason of his treatment leading to the first pregnancy.
He has built up the IVF Center at the Ulm University Women's Clinic and led it for many years. His habilitation (thesis for post-doctoral qualification), on the theme of in-vitro fertilization (IVF), took place at the Women's Clinic in 1990.
In 1996, he set up in practice as an independent doctor within the Praxisklinik Frauenstraße at Ulm/Germany.
In addition to diagnosing and treating sterility, focusing on IVF, the Clinic provides, as main areas, treatment and therapy of hormones and endocrinology, as well as preventative medicine.
A further specialty is prenatal medicine. In the course of his scientific labors, he has published over 100 original works on the subject of reproductive medicine.
As well as being a member of several specialist organizations, he has been a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine since 1992. Since 1996, he has held the honorary position as Scientist for the "Christian-Lauritzen-Institut e.V."
At the center of his work is the creation of highly qualified health information for the patients. Improving the quality of medical information is the effective prerequisite by which patients can decide for or against a given treatment.
