Introduction of team members:

Prof. Klaus A. Siebenrock, Clinic Director and Chief Physician, Team Leader Hip and Pelvis
As Chief Physician, Prof. Siebenrock also heads the hip and pelvis team. His expertise is particularly valued in complex surgeries, whether it is a matter of preserving joints - or whether it is about artificial joints. He also has extensive experience in sports traumatology and revision surgery of hip prostheses. Thanks to his international network and his membership in several top-class professional societies, he always stays up to date.

Prof. Dr. Dr. Frank Klenke, Head of the Sarcoma Center
Prof. Dr. Dr. Klenke, head of the nationally known Sarcoma Center, has made a name for himself as a proven specialist in tumor orthopedics from precise diagnostics to sensitive aftercare. He also has an enormous reputation in research, for example with papers on bone healing. This is not the only reason why he is a welcome guest at symposia.

Associate Lecturer Dr. Christoph E. Albers, Co-Leader Spine
As Co-Leader Spine Associate Lecturer Dr. Albers is familiar with injuries, diseases and fractures of the entire spine. He has a particularly high level of expertise in pelvic ring injuries, degenerative diseases and all types of cancer. He also enjoys an excellent reputation in spinal fusion surgery and in intervertebral disc endoprosthetics. In addition, he has a lot of experience in interventional pain therapy.

Prof. Dr. Johannes D. Bastian, Head of Orthogeriatrics, Hip and Pelvis Team
Associate Lecturer Dr. Bastian is also part of the hip and pelvis team as Head of Orthogeriatrics. This makes him exactly the right specialist when it comes to maintaining the mobility of elderly patients - in which his experience in prosthetics also comes in handy. Geriatric traumatology is also one of his absolute specialties. Also worth mentioning: in 2018 he received the coveted "SWIF AWARD" for his commitment to further medical education.

Associate Lecturer Dr. Moritz C. Deml: Co-Leader Spine, Head of Pediatric Spine Surgery
Associate Lecturer Dr. Deml is Co-Leader of the Department of Spine at the University Hospital and also Head of Pediatric Spine Surgery. He has extensive experience in the treatment of scoliosis and kyphosis - including in children - and in the treatment of spinal tumors. Numerous additional qualifications distinguish him - and his high level of expertise in complex microsurgical, endoscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

PD Helen Anwander, MD: Head Foot and Ankle
PD Dr. med. Helen Anwander has been working as a senior physician at the University Clinic for Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology in Bern (Switzerland) under the direction of Prof. Dr med. K. Siebenrock since 2021 and was previously a deputy senior physician and assistant physician at the same clinic. She also gained valuable experience at the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital and as an Orthopaedic Research Fellow in Canada. Dr Anwander demonstrates her extensive knowledge and her continuous professional development with her postdoctoral lecture qualification obtained in 2022, her designation as a specialist for orthopaedics and traumatology which she has had since 2020, and her membership in various medical societies. PD Dr. Michael Schär, Team Leader Shoulder, Elbow and Sports Medicine
Dr. Schär, Team Leader Shoulder, Elbow and Sports Medicine, has specialised above all in joint osteoarthritis and artificial joints. Especially when people with prostheses have to fight infections, he is considered the ideal person to consult. He has also gained an excellent reputation in sports circles - for example for tears in the rotator cuff or tendon transfers in the event of defects. He also has impressive expertise in tumor surgery.

Dr. Emanuel Liechti: Team Leader Knee
Dr. Liechti, Team Leader Knee since October 2022, has been part of Prof. Siebenrock's team since 2015. When it comes to regaining mobility as fully as possible with an artificial knee joint, his expertise is in particular demand.
