The Nardini Klinikum Landstuhl has a modern, well-equipped orthopedic and trauma surgery department, where around 2,100 orthopedic and trauma surgery operations are performed in the central operating theatre every year. The medical team consists of twelve doctors who treat around 3,000 outpatients and 2,400 inpatients every year. The team is also supported by 40 nursing staff and 14 physiotherapists, who care for up to 95 patients simultaneously on two wards. Despite the challenges of the modern healthcare system, it is a particular concern of all employees not to neglect human care and individuality. Since the end of 2013, the Department of Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery has been successfully certified as an EndoProstheticsCenter of Maximum Care according to “EndoCert®”. This certification, which was reconfirmed in 2024, underlines the high quality of the endoprosthetic treatments that have been successfully performed in this area for decades. The department offers a comprehensive treatment concept ranging from initial treatment, diagnostics and therapy through to aftercare and rehabilitation. The focus is on state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including gentle, minimally invasive surgical methods.
Another focus of the Nardini Klinikum Landstuhl under the management of Dr. Schläger is the treatment of back and intervertebral disc disorders.
More than 600 patients are treated with conservative methods every year. This includes patients with slipped discs, spinal canal stenosis, injuries and fractures of the spine, osteoporotic vertebral body fractures, signs of wear in the small vertebral joints (facet joints) and spondylolisthesis. In more complex cases, such as disc operations or spinal canal narrowing, the peridural catheter is used, a procedure with which the team has more than 25 years of experience. The department's staff provide comprehensive care for patients, from initial treatment, diagnostics and therapy through to aftercare and rehabilitation. State-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are offered, including minimally invasive surgical methods, to ensure the best possible quality for patients. The experts in the Department of Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery work closely with the Departments of Internal Medicine, Vascular Surgery, Radiology, Anaesthesia, Physiotherapy, Nursing and Technical Orthopedics in order to provide patients with high-quality treatment with as few complications as possible. Dr. Sascha Schläger and his team stand for highly qualified, patient-oriented and comprehensive care in the field of orthopedics and trauma surgery. The aim is to help patients achieve a new quality of life by providing them with state-of-the-art medical procedures and a closely networked team.
