Associate Professor Dr Cabraja is the Head of Spinal Surgery Division at the Berlin Endoprosthetics Centre and Spinal Surgery Centre at the Vivantes Auguste-Viktoria Hospital. Together with minimally invasive and microsurgery techniques and reconstructive surgery to the spinal column, the diagnostic and therapeutic service portfolio of Associate Professor Dr Cabraja and his interdisciplinary team includes degenerative spinal column conditions, tumour conditions of the spinal column (e.g. tumours of the spinal cord), as well as injuries and inflammations of the spinal column. As a spinal column specialist in Berlin, Associate Professor Dr Cabraja has been certified in the field of spinal neurosurgery by the German Spinal Neurosurgery Association. Thanks to this seal of quality, the spinal column specialist from Berlin is able to demonstrate, correspondingly, that he has performed a large number of complex procedures on the spinal column. In addition, the spinal column specialist from Berlin has also been honoured by the German Spinal Society with a MASTER Certificate for his outstanding services.
Mobility and activity are severely limited by conditions of the spinal column but are of vital importance for the well-being of the patient. If conservative, i.e. non-surgical, treatment options for the alleviation of the condition have been exhausted, surgery may be an option. The range of surgical treatments at the Spinal Surgery Centre in Berlin involves, inter alia, microsurgery procedures for spinal disc herniation and constriction of the spinal canal, artificial disc replacement, minimally invasive surgery for fractures, stabilisation of the spinal column for the widest variety of conditions, correction of malpositioning deformities, as well as tumours of the spinal cord and spinal column.
Interdisciplinary Spine Conference
Surgical procedures, however, are only performed on the spinal column at the Berlin Spinal Surgery Centre when alternative methods of treatment cease to be promising. For that reason, the spinal specialist from Berlin, Associate Professor Dr Cabraja, is also mindful of transparency and high quality when suggesting an indication for surgery. Inter alia, this is also insured insofar as the interdisciplinary spinal conferences, in which the treatments are planned, are monitored in a quality assurance programme. Thus, the spinal specialist in Berlin can avoid unnecessary surgery on the spinal column.
Since the Berlin Spinal Surgery Centre is closely connected to the Special Orthopaedic Surgery and Emergency Surgery Clinic, thanks to the experience both of the specialist orthopaedic / emergency surgeons and the specialist neurosurgeons, the patients of Associate Professor Dr Cabraja are given the optimal treatment. Thus, a weekly interdisciplinary spinal conference takes place at the Spinal Surgery Centre in Berlin, which is certified by the Berlin Medical Association as an advanced training event, within the course of which the best conservative or surgical treatments for patients is determined by agreement among the experts in neurology, interventional radiology, orthopaedics, neurosurgery and rehabilitation medicine.
