In his practice for pain therapy in Lüneburg that was granted the status of "Special therapeutic facility" by the State Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, Lower Saxony, Dr. Tamme treats all types of chronic pain conditions. In doing so, he always accounts for the fact that chronic pain is a phenomenon composed of physical, mental and social factors. It is his desire to keep the pharmacological treatment to a minimum.
Frequently, chronic pain masks psychological diseases, that do not necessarily make pain a "psycho phenomenon", but can maintain and potentiate it. These include depression and anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and what is called somatoform disorders and pain processing problems. But many headache disorders that more and more children are suffering from, and fibromyalgia, pain emanating from the spine (resulting from degeneration, "wear", accidents or intervertebral disc surgeries) are also treated here using individualized techniques.
Dr. Tamme has received the following qualifications and licensures by the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians: Special Pain Therapy, Psychotherapy (Depth Psychology and Behavior Therapy, Clinical Hypnosis, Autogenic Training, Psychosomatic Basic Care), Palliative Medicine, Addiction Medicine, Nutritional Medicine, Medical Assessment (in the fields of pain therapy and psychotherapy) and Traffic Medical Assessment, Sports Medicine, Emergency Medicine.
Some professional areas of interest of Dr. Tamme in Lüneburg include neuropathic pain therapy with a focus on the effect of chronification within the nervous system (neuroplasticity) and on dysfunctional (sub-optimal) interplay of individual brain areas: The highest control centers of the central and autonomic nervous system are influenced using high-end technology, either by external influence (electromagnetically brain stimulation like rTMS=repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation and thetaburst stimulation and/or current brain stimulations like tDCS and tACS) or by recruitment of already inherent, but not retrievable resources (feedback procedures neurofeedback, biofeedback). His overriding objective is always the sustainable reinstatement of healthy self-regulation that is independent of the physician.
In addition to these special therapies, the entire range of standard treatment procedures in pain medicine are applied.
