About us

Plastic surgery with its subspecialties reconstructive, aesthetic, hand and burn surgery is one of the most complex disciplines within the area of surgery. We treat the whole human body in order to restore the natural body form and function in cases of congenital deformities or after accidents and tumor formation. The basic concept of plastic surgery is patient treatment not only with life preservation in mind, but also the patient’s well-being in the sense of look, aesthetic, function and form. For each patient, the best possible individual solution has to be found in order to live up to the motto “plastic surgery – surgery for a new quality of life”.

Our work not only requires skillfulness and the utmost precision, but also a high level of sensitivity and artistic talent. In aesthetic surgery, it is also our primary goal to improve or restore the quality of life of our patients. However, this can only be made possible in a cooperation which is based on trust. Therefore, each intervention requires intensive counseling beforehand in order to achieve the best possible result. The specialists at our department can make use of modern medical technical equipment and all can look back on longtime experience and know-how according to the newest medical findings. All surgical steps are planned and carried out according to current knowledge. Whenever possible, we use gentle, minimally invasive techniques with scar formation as less as possible. We can guarantee you treatment on the highest level possible.

As a hospital of maximum care, experience and competence of a large team of experts as well as the possibility of an interdisciplinary treatment for all complex medical questions are of top priority to us. For that reason, we cooperate closely with all surgical and non-surgical disciplines in order to guarantee optimal treatment. Complex reconstructions are therefore discussed by an interdisciplinary team and an individual treatment concept is worked out.

We are one of the few hospitals in Germany to offer the complete spectrum of aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. Our emphasis is craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery for congenital deformities of the extremities. The surgical treatment of congenital and acquired deformities of the skull and face in children and adults completes the spectrum of plastic surgery.

For our patients of all ages, modern microsurgical techniques (among others, toe to hand transfer for thumb and finger reconstruction, functional muscle transfer, perforator flaps, etc.) as well as modern craniofacial and finger distraction methods are available. Especially in the area of microsurgery, some techniques have been redeveloped and reentered into the daily clinical routine by us. Furthermore, we also offer complex functional reconstructions in the facial area after motoric or substantial defects. For facial paralysis, we have a variety of different treatment methods for the reconstruction of facial expression, symmetry and function of the lips or eyelids available. Furthermore, the reconstruction of the female breast with own body skin (e.g. from the abdomen, buttocks or thigh) after breast cancer surgery is another focus area. The optimal treatment of patients with breast diseases is completed by an interdisciplinary cooperation with the certified breast center. An excellently furnished intensive care unit for severely burnt patients allows for a competent treatment, even of widespread and severe burns.

Due to our longtime experience, competence and clinical and scientific results, our department has established a good reputation nationally and internationally. This is reinforced by the number of our international patients which contributes to about 20% of all our treated patients.
