Dr. Isam El-Masri

Dr. Isam El-Masri, a specialist in orthopedic surgery and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system, opened his Berne Foot and Ankle Office in 2013 and moved his office in the Old City of Berne, Switzerland since 2018. All conditions and injuries to the ankle and foot are assessed, diagnosed and treated, either conservatively or with minimally invasive surgical techniques. A variety of conditions or injuries to the foot can significantly change the everyday life of affected patients, with many complaints resulting in immobility or significant limitations to daily life.

Even if conservative treatment is paramount at Dr. El-Masri’s office, surgery is frequently unavoidable if the condition or injury permits this. Dr. El-Masri is performing minimal invasive foot surgery at the Foot Office in Bern since 2014, whereby he has primarily specialized in bunion surgery. Bunions result in a tilted position of the great toe, frequently with displacement of the second toe. The benefits of a minimal invasive procedure are clear with a shorter surgery duration, no screws or plates and very small wounds, which means that the rehabilitation time is also significantly accelerated.

Dr. Isam El-Masri treats conditions and injuries to the ankle and foot, whether these are fractures, corrections of deformities of the toes, ligament and tendon reconstruction, nerve problems or diabetic and rheumatologic foot disorders.
In conservative treatment, Dr. El-Masri relies on proven aids such as physical therapy and enables better mobility through use of orthopedic insoles or shoes or compression stockings. He also provides treatment with injections or using splints and bandages.
