Founded in 2004, the Northwest Prostate Centre (PZNW) was certified by the German Cancer Association in 2010 as a centre for the treatment of cancer of the prostate. For this, the medical staff at the PZNW has the entire range of the currently available therapeutic options at its command. The individually best treatment for each patient is provided in compliance with the guidelines in pre- and post-treatment conferences.
With around 1,200 surgical procedures each year, the minimally invasive da Vinci surgical system represents a particular focus of the PZNW. With 6,000 da Vinci procedures performed to date since 2006, Dr Witt heads one of the world’s most experienced surgical teams in the field of robotic surgery. At the same time, Gronau has long since become established as a centre for the treatment of prostatic cancer and is frequented by patients from across the world.
Both therapeutically and diagnostically, the PZNW is invariably guided by the latest insights in research and medicine, e.g. we are one of the first hospitals internationally to have introduced the innovative trans-perineal fusion biopsy technique for the precise diagnosis of prostatic tumours.
This investigative method utilises a biopsy technique, which is stereotactically navigated by means of MRT and performed through an incision, which is particularly suitable for minimally invasive procedures.
Since, as a specialist in prostatic cancer, Dr Witt is among the few doctors who have mastered this highly complex surgical technique, he is also in great demand, both nationally and internationally, as a visiting surgeon.
Under the leadership of the specialist urologist, Northwest Prostate Centre is also certified and is recognised by the German Cancer Association as an Organ Cancer Centre.
