Univ.-Prof. Priv.-Doz. Dr. Daniel Zimpfer, MBA

Univ.-Prof. Priv.-Doz. Dr. Daniel Zimpfer, MBA, is Professor of Cardiac Surgery and Head of the University Department of Cardiac and Thoracic Aortic Surgery, as well as Surgical Director of the Pediatric Heart Center at the Medical University of Vienna. He completed his medical studies at the University of Vienna and additionally holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Health Care Management. In his clinical work, he combines extensive surgical expertise with a broad range of specialized treatment competencies in the field of cardiovascular medicine.

His medical expertise covers the surgical treatment of the full spectrum of congenital and acquired heart and aortic diseases. A particular focus lies on the application of minimally invasive surgical techniques as well as catheter-based therapeutic procedures, which he routinely employs in daily practice to ensure patient-centered care. In addition, he is a board-certified specialist in vascular surgery and has comprehensive operative experience in performing complex procedures.

Professor Zimpfer is actively involved in numerous national and international professional societies and contributes to the development of current clinical guidelines as well as to scientific publications. His clinical and academic contributions play a significant role in advancing the field of cardiac surgery and are reflected in a wide range of peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
Alongside his clinical responsibilities, he places great emphasis on the education and professional development of the next generation of cardiac surgeons. In his academic role, he promotes modern teaching and training concepts aimed at fostering an in-depth understanding of cardiovascular diseases and surgical techniques.
