Univ.-Prof. Priv.-Doz. Dr. Daniel Zimpfer, MBA, is Professor of Cardiac Surgery and Head of the University Department of Cardiac and Thoracic Aortic Surgery, as well as Surgical Director of the Pediatric Heart Center at the Medical University of Vienna. His clinical focus includes minimally invasive treatment approaches for heart valve disease, coronary artery disease, and aortic disease, as well as the management of congenital heart defects. In addition, Professor Zimpfer is an internationally recognized expert in the treatment of end-stage heart failure, including heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support systems. Alongside his clinical work, he is actively involved in research and is deeply committed to the education and training of future cardiac surgeons.

Univ.-Prof. Priv.-Doz. Dr. Daniel Zimpfer, MBA, is Professor of Cardiac Surgery and Head of the University Department of Cardiac and Thoracic Aortic Surgery, as well as Surgical Director of the Pediatric Heart Center at the Medical University of Vienna. He completed his medical studies at the University of Vienna and additionally holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Health Care Management. In his clinical work, he combines extensive surgical expertise with a broad range of specialized treatment competencies in the field of cardiovascular medicine.
His medical expertise covers the surgical treatment of the full spectrum of congenital and acquired heart and aortic diseases. A particular focus lies on the application of minimally invasive surgical techniques as well as catheter-based therapeutic procedures, which he routinely employs in daily practice to ensure patient-centered care. In addition, he is a board-certified specialist in vascular surgery and has comprehensive operative experience in performing complex procedures.
Professor Zimpfer is actively involved in numerous national and international professional societies and contributes to the development of current clinical guidelines as well as to scientific publications. His clinical and academic contributions play a significant role in advancing the field of cardiac surgery and are reflected in a wide range of peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
