The hospital's new department specializes in the diagnosis and interdisciplinary treatment of acute, chronic and malignant diseases of the lung and respiratory tract.
At the Lung Center Munich West, lung experts from the various medical disciplines work together across all departments in order to provide inpatients from the Munich Metropolitan Region and southern Germany with the best possible care at a high medical level. The team of experts thus provides a modern interdisciplinary and holistic care of patients with lung and respiratory diseases at the Helios Hospital Munich West.
The diseases that are treated at the Lung Center Munich West include infectious diseases and tumor diseases of the bronchi, lungs or pleura, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, lung scaffolding diseases such as pulmonary fibrosis, as well as sleep-related breathing disorders and disorders of the pulmonary circulation. Multisystemic lung diseases such as cystic fibrosis are also treated across all departments at the Lung Centre of the Helios Hospital Munich West. Further focuses of treatment are pulmonary hypertension and emphysema.
A comprehensive range of diagnostic and therapeutic services is available for the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases. In particular, diagnostic and interventional bronchoscopies (lung endoscopies) play an important role in this context.
