About us Private practice - RadioOncology in Vosspalais

This institution is a blessing for people who are looking for a first-class provider of highly effective radiotherapies for cancer: the private radiotherapy practice RadioOncology in Vosspalais focuses on a modern form of high-performance medicine – with a holistic and service-oriented approach at every stage, where the patients are the focus. It is no surprise that the practice in the middle of Berlin has been able to establish a great reputation in the international professional world right from the start: three experienced experts with extensive experience in clinic management have joined forces here to offer individual therapies of the highest precision.

Radiotherapy is one of the main pillars of modern cancer therapy. Countless people have been able to successfully overcome their cancer because of the wide-ranging and conservative options offered by innovative forms of radiotherapy. When Prof. Dr. med. Simone Marnitz, Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h.c. Volker Budach and Dr. med. Maria Steingräber founded the private radiotherapy practice RadioOnkologie im Vosspalais, radiotherapy was the foundation of their cooperation.

It was also clear from the start, however, that the general standard that is widespread in medical care does not do justice to this medical speciality. This is why the team at the joint practice prioritised sophisticated service modules: patients' wishes are the basis of completely personalised high-precision therapies. This approach can already be seen in the choice of practice rooms: Anyone who visits Radiooncology in Vosspalais can expect an exclusive atmosphere in a historical setting that is nothing like a classic hospital.

The founders of Radioncology in Vosspalais have managed to realise progress in knowledge and its application in evidence-based medicine with patient-oriented service offers and state-of-the-art technology in an exclusive environment. Since wellbeing is so important here, alongside the latest medical standards, this is true in every phase of treatment. That is why Prof. Marnitz, Prof. Budach and Dr. Steingräber, supported by a competent team, work closely with other specialists, such as oncologists, surgeons and radiologists. After all, it is only with an interdisciplinary approach that the ideal individual treatment plan be created. International patients can also receive support with visas, flights and hotels for their relatives.

Prof. Dr. med. Simone Marnitz was Director of the Clinic for Radiotherapy at the University Hospital of Cologne until 2022, where she also held a professorship. She completed her training as a radiation oncologist at Charité in Berlin and at UK Essen, after which she worked for a long time as a senior physician and senior consultant at Charité in Berlin. She led several scientific studies funded by Deutschen Krebshilfe (German Cancer Aid) and published the results. Her scientific and clinical focus includes the treatment of gynaecological tumours. She also has a high level of expertise in the treatment of prostate carcinoma and breast cancer. Prof. Marnitz is congress president of the annual congress of the German Society of Radiation Oncology (DEGRO) 2024.

Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h.c. Volker Budach has been a certified specialist in radiotherapy since 1985 making him one of the most experienced highly specialised physicians in Europe. Until 2022, he was Clinic Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the renowned Charité Hospital in Berlin, where he also founded and directed the Tumour Centre. His scientific and clinical focus is the treatment of head and neck tumours, sarcomas and breast carcinomas. His international network ensures that he is highly regarded in the field of scientific development. For example, he was president of the professional society DEGRO and congress president, and led several studies funded by Deutschen Krebshilfe (German Cancer Aid), which he was in charge of publishing. Prof. Budach is also a founding member of the Interdisciplinary Group for Soft Tissue Sarcomas for the German Cancer Society. He founded the Radiooncology in Vosspalais clinic directly after his retirement.

Dr. med. Maria Steingräber completed her specialist training in radiotherapy at the Charité in Berlin - under Prof. Budach. The specialist, who worked for a long time as a senior physician at Vivantes Klinikum Neukölln, believes that combining scientific research work with patient-oriented practice is of great importance. For example, she is involved in guideline groups for the German Cancer Society, for example on bronchial, anal, oesophageal and oral cavity carcinoma. She also has a focus on alleviating side effects and symptoms in order to make therapies as tolerable as possible - for example in AGSMO, the Working Group on Supportive Measures in Oncology. As an author and co-author, Dr Steingräber is also well-regarded; she has authored numerous contributions to journals and books. She also speaks fluent Russian.

It is clear to the Berlin trio that anyone who approaches RadioOncology in Vosspalais in the vibrant heart of the German capital will find themselves in the midst of the most challenging and difficult time – because cancer turns your entire life upside down. Therefore, in addition to state-of-the-art technologies and high precision in radiotherapy, there is a focus on a human touch for optimal treatment results. This includes time for conversations – because it is important to really get to know the people who are to be treated and, hopefully, cured.
