Dr. med. Christian Schoch completed his medical studies at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, one of the most renowned universities in Germany, and decided early on to specialize in orthopedics and trauma surgery. After completing his studies, he initially gained valuable experience in basic trauma surgery training before specializing in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Stuttgart Sports Clinic. This clinical work deepened his understanding of sports-related injuries and arthroscopic surgical techniques. Of particular note is his further training in Canada, where he worked as a fellow with Dr. Graham King, an internationally recognized expert in elbow surgery. This training significantly broadened his surgical spectrum and made him one of the leading specialists in elbow surgery.
Dr. Schoch has been working at the St. Vinzenz Clinic in Pfronten since 2012, where he not only contributed his surgical expertise in the field of shoulder and elbow surgery, but also established modern surgical procedures. These include arthroscopic procedures using minimally invasive techniques as well as complex open surgery and revision procedures. These procedures are particularly important in the treatment of sports injuries, rotator cuff tears, shoulder instabilities and degenerative joint diseases. A particular focus of his work is endoprosthetics of the shoulder joint. Dr. Schoch offers various techniques, such as stemless, anatomical and inverse shoulder prosthetics, which are specially tailored to the needs and physical conditions of patients. These procedures not only require a high degree of surgical precision, but also in-depth knowledge of modern prosthesis technologies and post-operative rehabilitation in order to restore the best possible function of the joint. Dr. Schoch is also an experienced specialist in revision surgery, correcting complex cases such as failed prostheses or malalignments and restoring an optimal quality of life for his patients. Dr. Schoch has also made a name for himself as an experienced sports orthopedist. The treatment of injuries in competitive athletes, particularly in the field of ice hockey, is part of his daily work. He has been the team doctor for the ice hockey club EV Pfronten for many years, which has given him extensive experience in dealing with acute injuries and their surgical and conservative treatment.
Dr. Christian Schoch is not only active in clinical practice, but is also highly committed to science. He has published more than 25 scientific articles and over 10 book contributions on shoulder and elbow surgery. He also regularly gives lectures at national and international specialist congresses, where he shares his surgical techniques and experience. As a member of leading specialist societies such as the German-speaking Society for Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery (AGA), the European Society for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (SECEC) and the German Society for Prevention and Sports Medicine (DGSP), Dr. Schoch always keeps abreast of the latest medical developments in his field. He is chairman of the elbow commission of the AGA and a member of several other specialist commissions in which he actively contributes to the further development of orthopedic and trauma surgical care.
