The Department of Ear, Nose and Throat Medicine at Münster University Hospital offers a comprehensive range of outpatient and inpatient services for patients of all ages. In addition to state-of-the-art diagnostic procedures, all established non-surgical and surgical therapies are used. A particular focus is on the treatment of diseases of the ear, the vestibular system, hearing impairment and tumors in the head and neck area. Chronic inflammation of the paranasal sinuses, malformations of the nose and ears, diseases of the larynx and vocal cords as well as allergic complaints are also treated here at a high professional level. The clinic also specializes in plastic-reconstructive procedures in the facial area and has many years of experience in the treatment of functional and aesthetic issues.
A strong, interdisciplinary team supports Prof. Dr. Rudack in his daily clinical and scientific work. The senior consultants include Priv.-Doz. Achim Beule, who, as Deputy Clinic Director, specializes in nasal and paranasal sinus surgery as well as skull base surgery and is also Head of the Centre for Clinical Studies. Dr. med. Hendrik Berssenbrügge, Managing Senior Physician, is responsible for the Head and Neck Tumor Center and oncological aftercare. Together with Dr Maximilian Oberste, Dr Brit Elisabeth Böse and Dr Armands Riders, as well as a dedicated team of specialists and junior medical staff, he forms the medical and organizational basis of a high-performance ENT clinic.
Around 8,000 outpatients are treated here every year and around 4,000 surgical procedures are performed. The clinic has five wards, including a specialized children's ward. Interdisciplinary work is promoted by the close exchange with other specialist departments at the university hospital as well as specialized centers such as the hearing center, the tumor center or the center for sleep-related breathing disorders. Particularly noteworthy is the comprehensive care of patients with sleep-related breathing disorders such as obstructive sleep apnoea, for which the latest diagnostic and therapeutic options are available. The clinic also offers specialized diagnostics and treatment for diseases of the thyroid gland, the salivary glands, the eye sockets, the trachea and the base of the skull. Children's ENT diseases are also treated with great care and experience.
