About us

Prof. Heino Kienapfel is a specialist in orthopaedics and accident surgery with additional qualification in special orthopaedic surgery.
He was the Senior Consultant and Medical Director of the Department of Special Orthopaedic Surgery and Accident Surgery at the Vivantes Auguste Viktoria Hospital, Berlin from June 2004 to March 2017.
Together with his employees, he founded the first maximum care endoprosthetics centre in Berlin and Brandenburg in 2013 and has headed this since March 2017. He was also Head of the Endoprosthesis Register Working Group at the German Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Surgery Association until April 2017.
Since May 2017, Prof. Kienapfel has provided a clinic for hip and knee joint conditions together with spinal conditions in the practice at Orthopaedics on the Tauentzien 5, as well as at the OVZ practice at Clayallee 225 in Zehlendorf. All patients with knee and hip problems can have a thorough consultation with Prof. Kienapfel at his specialist clinics. The consultation service is available to direct payers, privately insured patients and patients insured under statute. Helping to restore pain-free mobility to the patient is close to the heart of Prof. Kienapfel and his team because pain-free mobility means quality of life. The basis of successful treatment is a rapid and precise diagnosis of the present medical condition, the most up-to-date technique and an outstandingly trained, highly motivated team offering tried and tested treatments.
Over the last 25 years, Prof. Kienapfel has performed more than 6000 hip and knee replacement procedures (including exchange procedures). At the same time, it is particularly important to him that surgery only be performed after the non-surgical treatment options have been exhausted. His consultation service has no time limit; this enables a detailed discussion and a thorough examination. Here, he is aided by state-of- the-art equipment such as a digital X-ray unit, which produces high-definition X-ray images with the lowest radiation exposure over a minimum time period. Should a surgical procedure be necessary, this is performed personally by Prof. Kienapfel at the St. Marien Hospital in Berlin Lankwitz in close collaboration with the hospital’s Endoprosthetics Centre. Only reliable, particularly compatible implants made from high-tech materials are utilised in order to guarantee the optimal durability of the replacement joint.
Prof. Kienapfel cares personally for each patient, from the initial contact to the follow-up care. The facilities St. Marien Hospital include a comfort ward. A variety of clinics (including Humboldtmuehle Tegel, Median Clinic Kladow and Hoppegarten, Ahrenshoop Clinic) are available for follow-up treatment. Professor Kienapfel works at the following sites:
