About Prof. Dr. med. Gernold Wozniak
Prof. Dr. med. Gernold Wozniak is Chief of the Department of Vascular Surgery – vascular and endovascular surgery—and Medical Director of the Knappschaft Clinics in Bottrop. His clinical focus is on the diagnosis and surgical treatment of complex diseases of the arterial and venous vascular systems. He employs both proven open-surgery procedures and modern minimally invasive endovascular techniques.
A particular focus of his practice is the treatment of aneurysms, arterial occlusive diseases, and carotid artery diseases. In addition, hybrid procedures—which combine open and catheter-based interventions—are part of the medical spectrum, as are surgicalsurgical reconstructions for infections and the care of patients with diabetic foot syndrome. The goal of every treatment is to sustainably improve blood flow and to maintain the mobility and quality of life of those affected.
Under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Gernold Wozniak, the clinic collaborates on an interdisciplinary basis with the departments of angiology, radiology, neurology, nephrology, and other specialized disciplines. As a certified vascular center of the German Society for Vascular(DGG) and as an affiliated wound center of the German Society for Wound Healing (DGfW), the clinic offers comprehensive care for patients with acute and chronic vascular diseases.
The range of treatments also includes dialysis shunt surgery, surgical procedures for limb preservation, modern wound therapies for chronic wounds, and advanced vascular diagnostics. Through a combination of specialized diagnostics, modern surgical techniques, and interdisciplinary collaboration, patients receive individually tailored vascular care in accordance with current medical standards.
