Prof. Dr. med. Gregor Kocher

In his role as an independent thoracic surgeon, Professor Kocher heads thoracic surgery training and further education at the Hirslanden Clinic in Bern, and is also active in other medical institutions. He primarily cares for patients in the Bern thoracic surgery department, which includes both the Hirslanden Clinic Beau Site and the Lindenhof Hospital in Bern (Lindenhof Group), regardless of the type of insurance his patients have. Since March 2023, he has also held the position of Chief Physician for Thoracic Surgery at the Claraspital in Basel, where he performs weekly operations and offers consultation hours.

Professor Kocher is proficient in the entire spectrum of thoracic surgery, and specializes in minimally invasive procedures, including robot-assisted procedures. His professional expertise is the treatment of lung tumors, tumors of the mediastinum, pleural pathologies, and chest wall deformities. He also provides surgical solutions for tracheal pathologies, and performs thoracoscopic sympathectomies for the treatment of erythrophobia and hyperhidrosis. He has gained a wealth of experience from his many years as a specialist in surgery and thoracic surgery and his previous position as Head Physician at the University Clinic for Thoracic Surgery at Inselspital Bern. His pioneering work in minimally invasive surgery, especially the treatment of lung cancer, and his development of new minimally invasive surgical techniques for the treatment of chest wall deformities, are of particular note.

Professor Kocher is a member of several renowned medical associations, including FMH,
the Medical Association of the Canton of Bern, and international professional associations such as the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery and the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons. in 2019, he was admitted to the European Board of Thoracic Surgery, where he uses his wealth of experience and extensive knowledge to promote the health of his patients.
