With his many years of experience in medicine and an outstanding reputation, Prof. Dr. Hoffmann is one of the best-known shoulder and knee surgeons in the country. Before joining the Asklepios Klinik St. Georg, he was head physician at the renowned Schön Klinik Neustadt.
The focus of his clinical-surgical work is the knee and shoulder joint. As a highly specialised surgeon, the majority of complex reconstructive procedures are performed using minimally invasive keyhole techniques (arthroscopy). In the knee joint area, the focus is on the recovery of complex ligament injuries due to damage to the anterior and/or posterior cruciate ligament, as well as the collateral ligaments. Other focal points include surgical cartilage surgery, the correction of axial malpositions and the treatment of complex fractures or revision surgery for fractures that have healed in a malposition.
In the shoulder area, the focus is on the reconstruction of complex rotator cuff injuries and the treatment of instabilities after shoulder dislocation. In addition to complex fractures in the shoulder girdle, Prof. Hoffmann is a proven specialist in the field of shoulder endoprosthetics for osteoarthritis and problems following failed fracture healing.
A large proportion of the interventions carried out by Prof. Hoffmann are revision interventions where the initial intervention did not produce the desired result and pain, damage or instability persist,
Prof. Hoffmann is also a well-known surgeon scientifically, with publications and congress lectures in national and international formats. In addition to the development of new surgical techniques, another focus is the development of modern navigation systems in surgery.
In addition to his work as a surgeon, Prof. Hoffmann is the team doctor of the 1st Handball Bundesliga club HSV Hamburg, as well as the association doctor of the national beach volleyball team. Due to his high expertise in the field of sports injuries, he enjoys a great reputation among top athletes.
Prof. Hoffmann has been awarded various certificates of excellence by the major professional societies. Memberships in various medical societies such as the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Arthroskopie (AGA), AO-Trauma, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Unfallchirurgie (DGU), the Deutsche Kniegesellschaft (DKG) and the Verein Leitender Orthopäden und Unfallchirurgen (VLOU) bear witness to Prof. Dr Hoffmann's commitment to professional exchange and the continuous development of his field.
