Thank you very much for your understanding!

The Medical Clinic 1 (Director: Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Stefan Zeuzem) is a center for treatment of gastroenterological, hepatological, pneumological, allergological and endocrinological diseases. Our special clinical focus is on treatment of hepatic diseases (international center for hepatic diseases, viral hepatitis A, B, C, D, E, hereditary or autoimmune hepatic disorders, liver cirrhosis and complications, liver transplants) and tumor diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, of the liver, of the bile duct, of the pancreas, of the bronchial system and of the endocrine organs.

Our patients receive newly developed therapeutics within controlled treatment protocols.

Our excellent and fully-equipped Department for Endoscopy and Sonography is certified according to the guidelines of the European scientific community and offers all established diagnostic and therapeutic procedures of the esophagus, of the gastrointestinal tract, of the bile ducts, of the pancreas, of the bronchial system and of the endocrine organs.

In cooperation with other departments of a modern university hospital, Medical Clinic 1 offers holistic patient-centered care. Furthermore, the clinic is specialized in chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, pulmonary/respiratory diseases, and endocrinological diseases. We offer comprehensive interdisciplinary medical care for patients with diabetes mellitus (our institute is certified by the German Diabetes Association). We are a central contact point for questions regarding aspects of nutritional medicine.

Therapeutic Services

Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for all diseases, including oncological problems, are supported by our fully equipped Central Endoscopy Department and our specialized laboratory.

In interventional endoscopy procedures tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, of the liver, of the bile ducts, and of the pancreas can be diagnosed and treated (laser procedures, implants of plastic or metal stents).
