When Univ. Prof. Dr. Dr. med. Jonel Trebicka took over as head of the Department of Internal Medicine B at Münster University Hospital in May 2022, thus assuming responsibility for the areas of gastroenterology, hepatology, endocrinology and clinical infectiology, the move was celebrated in the Westphalian metropolis as a step in the right direction. This was so because the arrival of this renowned specialist meant that the hospital had gained a proven specialist for all issues pertaining to the liver and pancreas, who also has a high level of expertise in gastrointestinal diseases and in cancer treatment. He is also known for his expertise in endoscopic surgery.
With the appointment of Univ. Prof. Dr. Dr. med. Jonel Trebicka, Münster University Hospital has taken an important step into the future of modern high-performance medicine: The specialist, who is primarily known as a liver specialist and most recently headed the Translational Hepatology Section at the University Hospital Frankfurt, stands for precise diagnostics as well as for great competence in choosing the therapy that is precisely tailored to individual needs. Not least due to his top-class international networking, he is always at the cutting edge of science.
Prof. Trebicka set a clear goal right at the beginning: With the help of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, he wants not only to be there for people with liver cirrhosis, acute-chronic liver failure and transplantation, but also to make the clinic "a reference centre in hepatobiliary endoscopy and oncology".
Also active in research: Stomach, intestine, liver and hormones
There were several reasons why the experienced specialist and his team chose Münster. On the one hand, the city and region have an extremely high quality of life, and on the other hand, basic and translational research at the Medical Faculty of the long-established Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster goes hand in hand with management of the hospital. And it is precisely this research work that is important to him - because it gives his patients direct access to modern therapies. This also applies to novel surgical procedures and developments in endoscopy: Univ. Prof. Trebicka uses endoscopic procedures not only for examinations but also for interventions - with state-of-the-art tools and cameras.
So it is good news for the people of Münster, that they can consult a specialist for all problems regarding the gastrointestinal tract as well as for liver and thyroid diseases. Even though he is known nationally for his expertise in the field of liver cirrhosis, he covers all areas of the clinic at university level. By the way, he also has a lot of experience in nutritional medicine.
Specialist field of liver diseases: high reputation
In the international professional world, Univ. Prof. Dr. Dr. med. Jonel Trebicka has an excellent reputation, above all because of his important publications on scientific issues. For example, he has published on portal hypertension, on new treatments for liver cirrhosis, on acute and chronic liver failure and on hormone research. Whether it's about transplant medicine, diagnostics via sonography, or questions about diabetes, the clinic director in Münster is the right person to contact.
A committed, extremely focused physician who always has the optimum treatment for his patients in mind, and also constantly demonstrates his pioneering spirit in research; this makes Univ. Prof. Dr. Dr. med. Jonel Trebicka a prime example of the direction in which modern healthcare can go. So if you are looking for an exceptional specialist in gastroenterology, hepatology and endocrinology who is also well versed in clinical infectiology in both research and practice, you are welcome to contact Münster University Hospital. More precisely, the "Clinic for Internal Medicine B: Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Endocrinology and Clinical Infectiology".
