PD Dr. med. Christopher Brenke

PD Dr. med. Christopher Brenke is a board-certified neurosurgeon and Chief Physician of the Department of Neurosurgery and Spine Surgery. In addition to his specialist qualification, he also holds the additional certification in sports medicine, bringing broad medical expertise to his work. In his role, he is responsible for the care of patients with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, spine, and peripheral nerves.

His clinical focus is on spine surgery as well as the surgical treatment of complex disorders of the brain and peripheral nervous system. The department he leads treats a wide range of neurosurgical conditions and is particularly specialized in the treatment of spinal disorders. In recognition of the high quality of its surgical care, the department has been certified as a spine specialty center.

Before taking on his position as Chief Physician, PD Dr. med. Brenke worked for many years at renowned neurosurgical institutions. He completed his habilitation at Ruhr University Bochum in 2016 and gained extensive experience as a senior physician and later as a deputy chief physician, including at Knappschaftskrankenhaus Bochum. In 2020, he ultimately took over leadership of neurosurgery in Gelsenkirchen.
